Date Someone Mature

Date someone mature enough to treat the commitments they’ve made seriously. Someone who means it when they say you’re the only person they want and they would never do anything to hurt you. You don’t want someone who is going to continue playing the field and acting like they’re single even though they made a promise to be with you. You don’t want to date someone who has no sense of loyalty, someone you can easily imagine sneaking around behind your back.

Date someone mature enough to talk to you about their emotions instead of bottling them up inside until they explode. Someone who is comfortable sitting you down, having a discussion with you, and coming to a compromise with you. Someone who is able to express their feelings eloquently instead of screaming at the first sign of conflict. You don’t want to be with someone who throws a tantrum if they don’t get their way. You don’t want someone who cannot handle hearing no.

Date someone mature enough to give you space. Someone who understands your entire world cannot revolve around them. Someone who encourages you to have your own career, hobbies, and friendships. You don’t want to date someone who holds you back, someone who criticizes your dreams, someone who wants you all to themselves. You need someone who is excited, and proud, that you have a thriving life outside of your relationship.

Date someone mature enough to own up to their actions. Someone who is going to admit when they’ve made a mistake, apologize, and try their hardest to work on themselves so they don’t hurt you again in the future. You don’t want someone who refuses to acknowledge their flaws, someone who always pins the blame on others, someone who believes they can do no wrong. You want someone who is wise enough to see when they’ve screwed up and who has their heart set on doing better moving forward.

Date someone mature enough to respect your emotions. Someone who will encourage you to speak your mind, to cry on their shoulder, to be honest about how you feel at any given time. You don’t want to be with someone who accuses you of overreacting or leaves the room whenever you get emotional. You don’t want to be with someone who pressures you to calm down. You want someone who is willing to hear what you have to say, even when it’s hard to hear. Someone who respects your emotions and your opinions.

Date someone mature enough to act responsibly on a daily basis. Someone who shows up on time. Someone who follows through on their promises. Someone who prides themselves on doing the right thing. You don’t want to be with someone untrustworthy and unreliable. You don’t want someone who keeps you waiting and wondering what is running through your mind. You want someone you can count on, no matter what happens. Someone who would never disappoint you.

Date someone mature enough to give you everything you deserve.
