I like think you fall a little bit in love with every person you meet. I like to think that every person you meet helps you fall a little bit more in love with yourself.
Take a look at the people you love. You’ll realize that you love the way you feel about yourself when you’re around them. You’ll realize that the people you love mirror the things about you that you love most.
It’s falling in love with the little things. The little things you appreciate because they’re reflections of the little things about you that you love too. It’s falling in love with the pieces of them that have hurt the most. It’s realizing how much they’ve overcome and being reminded of how much you’ve overcome. Because the strength that you’re admiring is a reflection of your own strength. It’s falling in love with the pieces of them that show how big their heart is. It’s realizing the amount of compassion they have isn’t something everyone in the world encompasses. Because the compassion you admire so dearly is a reflection of the compassion you have for the world. It’s falling in love with the pieces of them that remind you so much of yourself. It’s realizing how much you love that they’re passionate about something you’re passionate about. Because love is a reflection of you.
You fall in love with connection. You fall in love with connection that comes naturally. Connection that feels like home. And when I say “fall in love”, I don’t necessarily mean the kind of “I will marry you one day” love. Sure, it could be that. But it doesn’t always need to be.
Because most of the time, it’s falling in love just a little bit to learn a little more about yourself.
